New album from SLIPKNOT

According to HMV.co.uk, Roadrunner Records set a UK release date August 11 (one day after the EU) for the much-anticipated new album for metal band SLIPKNOT. What-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004's "Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" is scheduled to be recorded with the producer Dave Fortman, who has worked with MUDVAYNE and EVANESCENCE.

SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED will lead to first-Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival, set to launch on July 9, in the White River Amphitheatre in Seattle. Joining SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED in the main stage will be DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON. Moreover, the second tour will have two phases: one sponsored by Jägermeister and presenting AIRBORNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, 36 CRAZYFISTS and Jägermeister The Battle of Bands Winner. A second stage will feature additional MACHINE HEAD, BLACK TIDE, SUICIDE SILENCE, THE RED CHORD, and Walls OF JERICHO.

SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan said recently that the magazine revolver of nine masked piece of Iowa is from a "different place" since it is preparing to record its fourth album major label. When asked what has changed since "Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses)," Crahan replied, "I can not stress enough that we are moving to a different place of this. Def leppard has announced will be launch they new album in this year.arena concert tour scheduled for this spring. Entitled "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" (Bludgeon Riffola/Island/UMe), the album set for release on April 29, contains 11 new songs including the highly-anticipated single "Nine Lives" featuring a groundbreaking collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw. The band is set to debut the single on ABC-TV's "Dancing With The Stars" on April 29 and on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on April 30. "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" is DEF LEPPARD's first album of brand new material since 2002's "X" and begins yet another remarkable new chapter in the band's 30-year recording career.

Recorded last year during month-long stints at lead singer Joe Elliott's Dublin studio, the album's title refers to a backstage area called "The Sparkle Lounge" on DEF LEPPARD's 2006 tour where the band would go to write songs. Tracks from the album have been described by the group as written in the style of "Hysteria", with the production of "High N' Dry".

"The whole record's got a great '70s feel," said lead singer Joe Elliott. "By our standards, it's a very different album as we've been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers. On the album there are classic DEF LEPPARD songs and then there's also tracks that are very new-wave influenced while others sound like middle-to-late '70s AC/DC. There will definitely be some moments on it where anybody that's familiar with our music will go, 'Whoa! I wasn't expecting that!'"

GUITARIST JUDAS PRIEST has answered the question from the fans in official website.he said below:
Q: How are the Knucklebonz sculptures of you and Glenn Tipton (guitar) coming along? Have you seen the finished product, and do you approve? Are they from the same era as the Rob Halford figure ('80s)? Also is a "Nostradamus" tour with material exclusively from that album played in its entirety still planned? And then a separate "classic" PRIEST tour still planned?

Downing: "I have only seen Rob's statue in its finished state and it 's pretty cool. I am still looking forward to getting mine.

"We will soon be on tour playing songs that many people have been waiting for and also we will be including some tasters from 'Nostradamus'. If all goes well I think it would be pretty cool to do a tour later performing the whole concept album."

Q: How much do you rehearse before a tour? Do you determine the set list before the start of the rehearsals, or do you rehearse a number of songs and compose a set list out of those songs? As I understand (conclusions drawn from various interviews) you're about to play whole of (and nothing but) the new album on the upcoming summer tour. Are you going to perform a new tour with JUDAS PRIEST classics after the "Nostradamus" tour?

Downing: "We try not to over-rehearse so as to keep things fresh, we usually decide on the bulk of the songs before hand but if someone makes a suggestion we will give it a go. For the moment we are planning to tour with classics but with some 'Nostradamus', then possibly tour again playing the entire 'Nostradamus' spectacle."

Q: Do you feel that in the present information society, people require to have new information as soon as possible? With Internet you can present every single step taken forward in the progress of writing a new album. I get the impression that you (JUDAS PRIEST) go the other way: you reveal almost nothing about what's happening. Other bands present almost every step that they make, put new songs onto the web etc. I can't say that it's wrong to be very secret, but it's a contrast to the enormous possibility to present information.

Downing: "Yes, maybe a lot of bands think that doing it that way they get more exposure but I prefer to do it the old way because I remember the excitement that I had when rushing to the store to buy a record that I had been waiting so eagerly for and playing it for the first time. It was such a rush, by giving people updates nearly every day somehow takes the excitement away for me. Also just making the record takes us more hours in the day than we have."

A reliable source recently informed The Pulse of Radio that GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy", is finished and the group's frontman W. Axl Rose is negotiating for more money with his record label before he will release the masters.

The ever-shifting GUNS N' ROSES lineup began working on "Chinese Democracy" sometime in the mid-'90s, and has reportedly spent $13 million recording the effort. Promised release dates in 2006 and 2007 did not materialize.

GUNS N' ROSES has only toured twice in the last 14 years: an aborted 2002 run that only lasted for a few shows, and a far more successful 2006 trek that took the latest lineup around the world.

Although Rose is considered one of rock's greatest frontmen, his sometimes irrational behavior onstage, reclusive lifestyle and notoriety for feuding with other rock stars has also earned him a reputation as one of rock's true eccentrics.

JUDAS PRIEST'S TOUR

JUDAS PRIEST The band featuring BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler, singer Ronnie James Dio, and drummer Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO) - JUDAS PRIEST and rumors are joining forces for a summer tour. It is noted, however, that this information has not yet been corrobated by an official source and should only be considered a rumor at this point.

Artisan News Service recently posted a short video interview with Vinny Appice in which he confirmed that the songwriting sessions for the new album, HEAVEN AND HELL will begin in April.

"We are making another HEAVEN AND HELL, let's make a CD album, then we will begin to write in April-May and I also have a little thing going with my DERRINGER original band, the first band I played with in 1976," he said . "We are doing a little reunion tour. Received all these great offers and thought you want to do it. Therefore, it will be a busy year."

The metal band Slayer took home the award for Best Metal Performance for his song "Final Six," the 50 th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles. Former MORBID ANGEL bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker, ex-GRIP INC./ HEATHEN bassist Jason VieBrooks and former FORBIDDEN/MANMADEGOD drummer Steve Jacobs have joined forces in a brand new band which is presently going under the moniker LOWA. "We're set to play our first shows this next weekend," Jason told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Debuting at The Madison Theater in Covington, Kentucky [on Friday, February 15], then on Saturday night [February 16] in Toledo, Ohio [at Déjà Vu]. We're calling the band LOWA for now. The name will most likely change but ran with that due to not having a solid name when the shows were booked. We've recorded five songs to shop but will play 10 live." ALL HELL, the Swedish band featuring members of 2 TON PREDATOR, MOLLY'S GUSHER and WITHIN REACH, has posted another new song, "Territorial Murder", on the group's MySpace page. The track comes off ALL HELL's forthcoming album, "Knarkbrand", due later in the year.

"Knarkbrand" marks ALL HELL's first recording with new singer Einar Magnusson (RUIN), who replaced Andreas Åkerberg last summer.

Support at the gig came from LIFE OF AGONY frontman Keith Caputo, who also joined the headliners for a rendition of the song "What Have You Done?"

Q: My question is regarding the non-make-up material that featured Bruce Kulick on guitar. I know that the Les Paul is almost as much a part of the Spaceman persona as the silver makeup and lightning bolts, but I was wondering if you would ever consider using a guitar equipped with a whammy bar for songs like "Unholy" and "Tears Are Falling". Are you guys going for more of an Ace Frehley vibe on the Bruce stuff? Also, is there any chance of you convincing Gene and Paul to add "Carnival Of Souls" material? Many of us really love that album and would enjoy hearing it live.

Thayer: "I've played a Les Paul since I began playing guitar, with much of my early influence coming directly from KISS and Ace. I did play some whammy bar stuff in the '80s, but I'm mostly born and bred on Gibson Les Pauls. So that would naturally be my approach onstage. If an 'Unholy' or 'Tears Are Falling' finds itself in the KISS set list, I would naturally adapt that solo to a Les Paul and 'classic KISS' sort of approach so that it works seamlessly with all of the other songs."

Q: I read recently that one of your favourite guitar players is Brian May. I also love your guitar tone — man, it's amazing — so I was just wondering: how do you get the sound?? I know that you play Les Pauls, but what about effects and amp type and settings?

Thayer: "Another good question. I've recently began using Hughes & Kettner Duotone amplifiers, which I love. I'm a true believer that the way a guitar player plays the guitar attributes more to the tone and sound than anything else. This never dawned on me until once I was watching a club band play at the Whisky in Hollywood back in 1982. The guitar player had an OK tone but wasn't that impressive. Suddenly they announce a special guest coming up onstage. Randy Rhoads walks out and picks up the other guitar player's guitar and plugs into the guitar player's amp. Amazingly, the guitar sound was instantly huge and ballsy. It sounded completely different. So that stuck with me and I've seen and heard that happen time and time again. I don't use effects on my sound, except an octave divider on one solo."

Referring to DREAM THEATER's first and only major radio hit, "Pull Me Under", the compilation's tongue-in-cheek title is a testament not only to the band's sense of humor but also highlights the acclaimed New York-based quintet's ability to make music and cultivate a legion of fans on its own terms, without help from radio or MTV. The collection features more than two hours of progressive hard rock from James LaBrie (vocals), John Myung (bass), John Petrucci (guitar/vocals), Mike Portnoy (drums/vocals) and Jordan Rudess (keyboards).

The collection contains three newly remixed versions of tracks from DREAM THEATER's breakout 1992 album, "Images And Words": the aforementioned "Pull Me Under" as well as "Take The Time" and "Another Day". MUSHROOMHEAD in "THE RAGE"

Horror legend and special effects master Robert Kurtzman's new splatter epic "The Rage" will be released in the U.S. on DVD on February 26 from Screen Media Films. The film, which stars Andrew Divoff ("Lost", "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull") and Erin Brown (Masters of Horror's "Sick Girl"), has received rave reviews and is currently touring film festivals around the world.

ZEPPELIN's Confirmation For BONNAROO

The Pulse of Radio reports that a number of news sites — including the British music news site NME.com (which apparently "broke" the news) — erroneously reported that LED ZEPPELIN was going to headline the 2008 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, scheduled for June 12 through June 15 in Manchester, Tennessee. The lineup was posted at the official Bonnaroo site at midnight ET on Wednesday (February 6). But in actuality the lineup includes LEZ ZEPPELIN, an all-female LED ZEPPELIN cover band from New York. Nevertheless, dozens of other sites picked up the erroneous story without apparently first bothering to check the official Bonnaroo site itself.

LED ZEPPELIN's appearance at the event had been rumored for weeks.

The festival, which launched in 2002, will take place once again on a 700-acre farm 60 miles south of Nashville, with a total lineup of more than 100 bands and over 20 comedians, including the headliners METALLICA, PEARL JAM, JACK JOHNSON and KANYE WEST.

Tickets go on sale at bonnaroo.com on Saturday, February 16 at 12:00 p.m. ET. METALLICA will headline the bill on June 13.

The choice of METALLICA as a headliner is bound to cause controversy, given the festival's more relaxed vibe and past leanings toward jam bands, indie acts and prog-rock. Although TOOL performed last year, the METALLICA audience is often decidedly more raucous.

Once There Was: Even though Anette [Olzon, vocals] is not here let's first talk a bit about NIGHTWISH's U.S. tour. How was it for you guys?

Tuomas: It was much better than we ever hoped for and during the tour we got what we went there for which was basically to get some self-esteem for Anette. And you could really see that during the first two weeks she was a bit scared and a bit more reserved on stage and not that convincing, which is only natural, but at the end of the tour, she was dancing on stage and she owned the whole audience.

Once There Was: But when I saw the gigs from the beginning of the tour I already thought she was quite good…

Tuomas: Yes, it was OK, of course, but you could still see that she was not yet so naturally into it. But she definitely was at the end.

Once There Was: And how did it go with the voice?

Tuomas: She had her bad days, but that was to be expected, as it will have to be in the future as well. And we had this little three-minute-discussion after the show in Portland where we basically just said, "Stop whining! And stop being such a perfectionist!" Because even though perfectionism is a virtue, in a way, it also poisons the whole atmosphere when it goes over the top. So that was like really the breaking point of the whole tour, I would say. We just told her to stop complaining about not being able to do everything perfectly every night. That's not the idea. But it was also a lot of fun, of course. We had some off days and we went to Disneyland and to Universal Studios in Orlando. And I even got to go to Disneyland with my mom and dad, which was like a once-in-a-lifetime treat. The whole tour was a lot of fun. Well, the beginning was actually a little bit of a hassle, because of sickness and so. The funny thing was that we asked Anette a million times, "Do you have any idea what you are getting yourself into?" and she was always like, "Yeah, yeah…I know." And after two weeks in the U.S., she admitted, "I had no idea." It was kinda funny.
